In the Spring, Mice Dance on the Tips of Their Little Claws No More, 1992.
Acrylic on white board 65 x 54cm.
Phillip Wood Gallery, Berkeley, California.

Artist
Simkin, a four year old siamese, has been painting for 18 months and has already four of her works through her local Cat Art Society. Her detailed paintings often take several days to complete and have so far mainly dealt with the issues surrounding the efficacy of destroying rodents as opposed to the negative aspects of eating birds.

Curatorial Notes
"Each of Simkin's paintings is made up of heavily drawn red diagonal smears which, at their points of intersection, boldly describe areas of conflict and uncertainty. His [sic] works have all the power and aesthetic vigor of a considerable artistic talent working with maturity and a passion for the small rodents which are her consuming interest." Dr. David Hinds, private curatorial assessment, 1994.
